Chapter 65 : Secretly Filmed
Chapter 65 : Secretly Filmed
Secretly FilmedCecilia vaguely remembered that this wasn't the first time Little Persimmon Puppy said she wanted to hold an auction.
However, in previous times, she always used the name of the Merchant Alliance as an excuse, whereas this time, she claimed it was in preparation stages. To successfully organize an auction, venue, auction items, and buyers—none of these elements could be missing, and the organizer needed to have a wide network of connections.
Seeing it this way, the round-faced, young-looking girl before her seemed rather extraordinary.
Thinking thus, Cecilia simply asked directly, "The auction you're talking about, are you planning to do it alone?"
"I have some resources on hand, so I thought I'd integrate them a bit—just some small business,"
Little Persimmon Puppy did not refute.
"I get it. The epic equipment you previously asked me to craft for you for free is likely also meant to be auctioned off, isn't it?"
Cecilia hadn't forgotten. When she first met Little Persimmon Puppy, the latter had sold her a blueprint for a piece of purple equipment at a nearly giveaway price. One of the conditions was for Cecilia to help her craft a piece of epic equipment free of charge.
"Yeah, actually I really hope we could work together. You're the game's only grandmaster-level Forging, and always able to get purple Boss sets. I have no shortage of buyers over here. If the two of us cooperate, we could definitely monopolize the entire national server, maybe even all of the Asian server's equipment trade."
At the mention of this topic, little Persimmon Puppy was instantly energized, her eyes shining as she spoke.
Just this noon she had looked at Cecilia's "ID card", and even specially checked out the apartment complex registered on it. Though it counted as property in the city, it clearly wasn't the sort of place the rich lived. From this, little Persimmon Puppy could boldly surmise that perhaps Cecilia wasn't the well-off young lady the rumors claimed.
In other words, using profit as bait might be very effective on her.
"You mean, cooperate?"
As Little Persimmon Puppy expected, Cecilia indeed showed interest.
"Mm-hmm, we partner up, split the shares fifty–fifty... no, you six, I four! How about it?"
Honestly, sixty percent of the shares was indeed a very tempting offer. It meant that if Cecilia agreed, sixty percent of all future income Little Persimmon Puppy made from Legend of Kaloran would go to Cecilia.
Yet, after pondering for a moment, Cecilia still gently shook her head.
"Sorry, I don't need money right now, nor do I have the energy or time for business."
She spoke the truth: if she economized, twenty million was enough to last a lifetime.
Therefore, Cecilia wasn't short on money, nor did she have the desire to make more like other Merchants.
She was, after all, content with what she had.
A year was neither long nor short, but it certainly wasn't lengthy. In the days to come, Cecilia's primary focus would be on leveling up and crafting new equipment, and she wouldn't have the spare time to sell things with Little Persimmon Puppy.
Receiving a refusal, little Persimmon Puppy panicked and hurriedly asked, "Really don't want to reconsider? As long as you work with me, I can give you any rare materials or equipment blueprints in the future!"
"No, you misunderstood. It's just that I don't like doing things with others. It's inefficient and troublesome—there's simply no need."
Cecilia pressed her thin lips together and replied softly.
Although Little Persimmon Puppy's promise was very tempting and Cecilia currently desired all sorts of rare materials and equipment blueprints the most, unless absolutely necessary, she still wanted to keep working solo.
Besides, if a complete amateur partnered with a cunning professional Merchant, it didn't seem wise—if that happened, she'd probably end up getting sold and helping count the money!
"I see."
Little Persimmon Puppy sighed lightly, then said, "Alright, I'll buy all your equipment and skill books. Blue-quality items will be bought at the current highest market price, and purple equipment will be bought at eighty percent of its final auction price."
She paused for two seconds, worried Cecilia might not understand, and clarified, "That is, if I sell your purple equipment for 1000 gold coins, I'll give you 800; the remaining 200 are my tip. But I'm really out of money now and heavily in debt, so the payment will have to wait until after the auction. Is that acceptable?"
"Deal."
Cecilia extended her right hand and high-fived Little Persimmon Puppy to seal the agreement.
After they handed over the goods, little Persimmon Puppy left with dozens of pieces of equipment.
According to her, the auction would be officially held in less than a week, just as the patch was being released and as the game's official guild system and land trading features were unlocked.
Speaking of land, Cecilia thought of the building Gu Yanxi had drawn in-game, which happened to be near the arena in the east district of Main City, and the property value then surely wouldn't be low.
"I'll find time to take Gu Yanxi to see it tomorrow," she thought.
With that in mind, Cecilia bent down, slender fingers pinching her shoe heels and gently pulling to free her dainty feet from the tight black Shoes. After taking both Shoes off, she lay on the inn bed, opened the main interface, and logged out of the game.
.......
As she slowly removed her helmet, the ceiling of Gu Yanxi's bedroom came into view.
Bracing herself with both hands, she struggled to sit up from the bed. Cecilia felt somewhat relieved—perhaps because this session was brief, she hadn't almost been exposed like last time.
She quickly tidied her hair, put on her slippers, exited the bedroom, and entered the living room.
The living room lights were off. Gu Yanxi was sitting on the sofa hugging a throw pillow, watching TV, though her attention wasn't on the show itself. Instead, she kept glancing at her phone, a faint worry clouding her face.
"What's wrong?"
Leisurely strolling over, Cecilia sat beside Gu Yanxi and casually asked.
"We were secretly photographed—look at this."
Gu Yanxi didn't say much. She gently bit her lower lip, picked up the phone at hand, unlocked it, and handed it to Cecilia.
A bad feeling surged in Cecilia's chest. She glanced at Gu Yanxi's phone, and her expression instantly went cold.
On the screen was a post on the official Legend of Kaloran forum. In less than a few hours since posting, the likes and replies had already surpassed ten thousand, and it had rocketed to the forum's homepage.
The post's title was straightforward:
"Big news, can anyone tell me if the person I ran into at the bank today was Cecilia?"
