Chapter 64 : The Deal
Chapter 64 : The Deal
The DealPlayers who frequented the arena all knew that after painstakingly accumulating a thousand wins in a row, not only would one receive the server's only "Legendary" class title, but also get a one-time system reward of 100,000 points—enough to redeem more than half of the items in the points shop.
Cecilia's own reputation was already high enough, and she wasn't very interested in the "Legendary" title. The only thing that caught her attention was the 100,000 points, as well as any potential additional rewards.
Based on past experience, legend of Kaloran tended to be quite generous with its rewards for "firsts."
"First to defeat a world-class boss,"
"first to advance a secondary class to grandmaster,"
"first to clear a timed event"—it was precisely because the benefits for firsts were so substantial that Cecilia was able to reach her current heights.
So, she really wanted to know if the first player to obtain the "Legendary" title would get any extra rewards from the system.
If the rewards were generous enough, she wouldn't mind going to the arena to fetch a legendary title for herself.
Not long after sending out her message—just a few seconds, in fact—Yuewu quickly sent a reply.
【Yuewu: There is! And you get a really cool little crown that you can wear on your head. Sis Ce, do you want one too?】
A little crown?
A huge question mark popped up in Cecilia's mind. She imagined herself with a little crown perched on her head, and a chill ran through her heart.
【Cecilia: Sorry to bother you, you can keep it for yourself.】
After sending the message, the sun was almost below the western horizon. Cecilia turned and headed towards the Main City.
Her red name status had disappeared. She planned to first return to Main City to repair her equipment, then find an NPC to sell off some unnecessary materials and clear out space in her backpack. Tomorrow, she would go hunting for new world-class bosses.
A few minutes later, Cecilia returned to the brightly lit Main City. She avoided the player-crowded square, first went into a weapons shop, and spent 4 gold coins to fully restore the durability of all her equipment. Then she bundled up and sold all of her junk items to the shopkeeper.
NPCs rarely offered good prices; hundreds of low-level materials only netted her 3 gold coins in total. But Cecilia didn't care about such a small sum.
Looking at the dazzling blue and purple equipment in her backpack, she hesitated for a moment and then sent another private message to Little Persimmon Puppy.
【Cecilia: I still have some equipment and skill books here. Do you want them? I can sell them to you in a bundle.】
Worried that Little Persimmon Puppy might not have enough cash on hand since she had just spent ten million today, Cecilia added another message:
【Cecilia: You can owe me for now—just pay after you resell them.】
She waited quietly for more than ten seconds before Little Persimmon Puppy replied.
【Little Persimmon Puppy: Where should we meet?】
.......
Loren Royal City, Charlotte Inn, small room on the second floor.
A silver-haired, twin-tailed girl in a maid outfit sat by the bed, swinging her slender legs wrapped in white stockings, waiting idly.
A moment later, as if suddenly realizing something, her expression changed slightly; she furrowed her brows, placed her hands on her knees, and assumed a more proper sitting posture.
However, she didn't last two minutes before her feet, clad in white socks, began to shuffle restlessly again.
Cecilia gave up, stood up and started pacing back and forth in the room, sighing in resignation.
What was wrong with her?
Why had she recently started unconsciously doing things like a little girl?
Lost in thought, she suddenly glanced at the mirror on the table and her mind went blank for a couple of seconds before she gradually came back to herself.
Ah, right. She was now a girl.
It was absurd: just by playing an online game, she had been forced to transition from a male to a female player. No matter how much time passed, every time she thought about it, it always felt bizarre.
Luckily, it was still summer break with over a month left—plenty of time for her to learn how to be a proper girl. If she had become like this during the school term, Cecilia would probably have wanted to die.
She still had no idea what to do when September 1st came.
Maybe she could donate some money to the school and get a transfer student spot—it should be easy enough.
Then there was the threat from Dragon Abyss, and in a few days, she would have to explain her situation to Gu Yanxi's mother.
Thinking about all that gave Cecilia a headache again. Ever since she started playing this game, her once calm life had been thrown into chaos, and problems just kept piling up.
Fortunately, a knock at the door soon pulled Cecilia out of her thoughts.
She leisurely opened the wooden door, and, sure enough, little Persimmon Puppy stood outside.
"G-good evening..."
The moment she saw Cecilia, little Persimmon Puppy's face flushed bright red, her gaze flustered. She stammered for quite a while before finally managing a simple greeting.
"Good evening, come inside and talk."
Seeing her act so guilty, Cecilia felt puzzled, but didn't think too much about it and let her into the room.
As soon as the door closed, little Persimmon Puppy became even more nervous. She didn't dare look at Cecilia and lowered her head, murmuring, "S-sorry. When I logged off earlier, I didn't know Dragon Abyss's people were ambushing you guys in the wilds, or I definitely would have stayed and fought with you."
So that was the reason?
What was the big deal? It was nothing.
Cecilia found it amusing; with such a big show of nerves, she had thought Little Persimmon Puppy had done something truly unspeakable behind her back.
"It's fine. It's already over. Besides, you wouldn't have helped much if you'd stayed. I was short on time, anyway. Let's just get to business."
With a casual brush-off, Cecilia got right to the point.
"How much stuff do you have to sell? Mind if I take a look?"
As soon as business was mentioned, little Persimmon Puppy perked up, sitting down on the chair across from Cecilia, her expression serious.
"Let me see."
Cecilia opened her backpack and counted carefully. As they were already familiar, she got straight to the point: "A full purple assassin set, a purple dagger, seven loose blue equips, two skill books, and fourteen white equipment. Oh, and the skill books are both blue."
"You've got more to sell than any equipment merchant. Maybe you should just become an equipment merchant yourself."
Although Little Persimmon Puppy had been somewhat mentally prepared, hearing a detailed list from Cecilia still made her wipe nervous sweat from her forehead.
Seven blue equips, a purple weapon—did this person wipe out Dragon Abyss's headquarters?
"Name your price. How much can you offer?"
Cecilia asked directly.
"Well... funds are a bit tight lately, mostly tied up in preparing for the upcoming auction. Honestly, even the ten million I gave you today was borrowed. With this much stock at once, if you don't accept IOUs, I really can't afford everything in one go."
Little Persimmon Puppy was very frank.
Auction?
Hearing that word from Little Persimmon Puppy again, Cecilia couldn't help but fall into thought.
