Chapter 58 : Will You Marry Me?
Chapter 58 : Will You Marry Me?
Will You Marry Me?In less than ten minutes, Cecilia had killed nearly a hundred people. The name above her head was now an extreme shade of red, even beginning to accumulate into a deeper, dark brown color, like dried blood scabs, as if sticky blood would seep out at any moment.
Seeing this, both Dawn's Light and Yuewu couldn't help but show a subtle change of expression.
The three of them combined had only killed ten enemy players, and their IDs had only just turned slightly red. In the few minutes they were apart, just how many players had Cecilia killed for her ID to be so red it looked almost black?
It was terrifying to think about—but they also felt a bit of schadenfreude, knowing that all of Dragon Abyss's detailed planning had been reduced to ashes. This time, they were probably going to lose everything.
"Sister Ce, exactly how many people did you kill?"
Yuewu approached Cecilia, her tone filled with curiosity and a touch of lingering fear.
She was thinking that if, when she met Cecilia for the first time, she hadn't switched sides and had firmly stood by Dragon Abyss, would she have ended up among the players killed today?
"I didn't really keep count, let me check."
At the time, she had been caught up in the thrill of the chase and hadn't paid attention to how many players she'd killed. Opening the red-name interface for a glance, Cecilia calmly replied, "Ninety-seven in total. The other dozens ran too fast; I had to wait for you two to come out, so I didn't chase them."
Hearing this number, Yuewu was stunned for a moment. A few seconds later, she awkwardly said, "We took out two teams, that's ten people, so that makes one hundred and seven in total."
"That's good enough. Did any equipment drop?"
Cecilia nodded and asked.
"Not great luck, just a blue shield out of ten kills. Do you want it?"
With that, Yuewu pulled out a large Holy Knight's tower shield from her inventory and handed it to Cecilia.
"You two keep it and split it among yourselves."
Cecilia didn't take the shield Yuewu offered, instead gesturing for Yuewu and Dawn's Light to distribute it themselves.
Yuewu wasn't dumb; she knew Cecilia's haul from this battle was far bigger than what the three of them had gotten together, so she sensibly dropped the matter and put the shield away. Judging by her satisfied look, that shield probably wouldn't have anything to do with Dawn's Light from here on.
"Now that the Boss is dealt with and Dragon Abyss's people are gone, I say we call it here and go our separate ways," said Cecilia calmly as she finished tallying the spoils.
With such a big red name over her head, if she didn't clear it first, she'd never be able to return to the Main City—otherwise, she'd be attacked by the city-guarding NPC soldiers.
Although with Cecilia's current combat power, a few guards wouldn't be a threat, if she wanted to keep mixing in the Main City in the future, there was no point in pushing her luck. Who knows, after killing the guards, would a few generals show up?
She could win, but it wasn't worth the trouble.
"We need to clear our red names too. If there's ever another gig like this, make sure to call me,"
Yuewu said earnestly.
This team-up had brought her and Dawn's Light plenty of benefits, not only getting two full-server announcements for free, but even, with just four of them, driving off over a hundred people from Dragon Abyss. Not to mention, Dawn's Light had bought an epic swordsman set and a D-level world boss pet egg—there was plenty left for them to do now.
"Oh right, how do I pay you for the equipment and the pet egg?"
Just as Cecilia and Gu Yanxi were about to leave, Dawn's Light suddenly remembered the 7.3 million RMB he owed Cecilia, and hurriedly asked.
"I'll send you my card number next time I log in."
Though Cecilia said this, she didn't actually have her own bank card yet. She'd need to go back to the real world and get a new ID card to the bank to open an account.
"Alright."
After a simple farewell, Dawn's Light and Yuewu went off to different monster zones. Since they hadn't killed that many players, grinding monsters for an hour would basically clear their red names.
Cecilia's red name was much deeper. Even with her fast grinding speed, she'd need to clear multiple monster zones to be rid of her wanted status.
Don't even think about getting it done in less than two or three hours.
Glancing at the time, nearly five hours had passed since she logged on in the morning. It was almost mealtime. Cecilia planned to log off for a while with Gu Yanxi.
After lunch and getting her bank card set up, she figured Dawn's Light and Little Persimmon Puppy would have the money ready, and she'd just need to wait for it to roll in after logging back on.
Seventeen million RMB—it was enough to make Cecilia feel like vomiting blood.
It was just a few pieces of in-game equipment. These filthy rich players just had too much money.
Adding in the money from Dragon Abyss, the Korean jerks, and all the equipment she hadn't sold yet, Cecilia estimated she had made more than twenty million RMB—just this morning alone.
Twenty million sounded exaggerated, but when you thought about Cecilia's identity, it wasn't all that unusual.
Right now, the domestic game streaming industry was booming. Even streamers of declining games like "League of Heroes" could earn close to a hundred million RMB a year just by playing for a few hours in front of their computers if they had enough popularity.
By comparison, as the number one player in the Legend of Kaloran world ranking, Cecilia's side money earned from the game wasn't actually all that much.
The real reason was that she refused to stream. She didn't want to appear in front of tens or hundreds of thousands, be constantly restricted, or expose her many secrets.
Otherwise, just with her ID, streaming platforms would be begging her to sign a contract, offering the highest possible pay.
After all, in this increasingly twisted industry, there were just too few beautiful, skilled gamer girls.
Seventy billion people in the world, and there was only one Cecilia. Finding a second would be like finding a needle in a haystack.
With these thoughts, Cecilia pressed the "Logout" button in the bottom bar of the main interface and, together with Gu Yanxi, exited the world of Legend of Kaloran.
Her senses returned to reality, along with waves of pain from her lower abdomen.
Heaving a light sigh, Cecilia took off her helmet and struggled to climb out of bed.
Although she definitely wasn't strapped for money anymore, so she hadn't gone against her original intention when she left the helmet at home.
It's just that, while other people made money by selling their time and labor, she made money by selling her body and soul, paying with both masculinity and a lifetime's worth of consequences. The cost was way too steep.
Feeling the persistent flow of heat below, just as Cecilia was about to sink into despair, Gu Yanxi suddenly sat up from the bed, threw off her helmet, and pounced—throwing her arms around Cecilia!
"Seventeen million three hundred thousand! Sugar mama! Please keep me!"
There was deep disbelief and joy in the girl's voice.
No matter how dignified she acted around others, in the end, Gu Yanxi was still childish at heart. When alone with someone familiar, she couldn't help but show it.
Feeling the energy and softness in the young girl's body, all of Cecilia's unhappiness vanished. Her light blue eyes sparkled, and she hugged Gu Yanxi back, resting her chin on her round shoulder. Dimples appeared at her smile.
No matter how bad things got, at least after becoming like this, Gu Yanxi hadn't grown to hate or distance herself from her.
The people she needed to keep by her side were still here—not one more, not one less.
This planet was still spinning, her world hadn't collapsed.
With that in mind, what was there to be dissatisfied about?
Cecilia drew closer, the faint scent of perfume curling around her nose. Lifting the long, soft black hair, Cecilia rubbed her cheek against Gu Yanxi's, affectionately, like a cat, and softly murmured, "If you marry me, then everything I have will be yours."
"Marry you? Wha-wha-what?"
Blood rushed to Gu Yanxi's pretty face, making it flush red and hot. Cecilia's bold words and actions made her entire back tense, and her fingers dug into the silver-haired girl's back, leaving faint red marks.
"We're still young... Saying... marriage now, isn't it a bit early...?"
"Besides... both of us are... My mom would definitely never agree!"
Overwhelmed by nervousness and embarrassment, Gu Yanxi was completely incoherent.
"So what you're saying is, if your mom agrees, you'd be willing to marry me?"
Cecilia, showing no disappointment at being refused, pressed further, eyes shining brightly.
Gu Yanxi's face grew even redder. Her lips parted and closed twice, but no sound came.
Cecilia knew Gu Yanxi was nearly at her limit, holding herself together with that last shred of shame. There was maybe just one more push before her confession would succeed.
But Cecilia herself was anything but calm. Her breath grew more rapid, and waves of trembling surged through her body. It was even more sensitive than she'd expected, and her jaw was practically chattering.
How could she make this final step happen naturally?
All of a sudden, an extremely bold idea sprang into Cecilia's mind.
She never forgot what Aesther had said—that a Vampire body, to ordinary humans, was not only lethally poisonous, but also irresistibly attractive.
Only by enduring the pain of being pricked by thorns, could one pick a beautiful rose covered in morning dew.
Isn't that so?
