Chapter 56 : The Hunt
Chapter 56 : The Hunt
The HuntTaking two steps to the front of the bushes, Cecilia bent down and picked up the purple light orb on the ground. At the same time, system Miss's voice sounded in her mind.
"System Notification: You have obtained the epic weapon [Moonshadow Blade]!"
As expected, it was that purple weapon!
Looking at the exquisitely styled dagger in her hand, Cecilia almost burst out laughing. She had to admit, this assassin jerk's luck was incredibly bad.
Being slapped to death by her was already miserable enough, but even the most valuable weapon on their body had dropped. One had to know, this was no common item one would see everywhere, but a genuine purple epic weapon.
She wondered if these jerks would later go to Dragon Abyss to request compensation. But judging by the current price of epic equipment, even Dragon Abyss would probably feel the pain for quite some time.
As she gloated inwardly, Cecilia opened the detailed interface of the dagger.
[Moonshadow Blade]

.......
Although it was a good item, compared to her current weapon, its stats were still far inferior. It could only be called average, better than nothing.
She'd better just sell it for money.
Hopefully, by then Dragon Abyss would have enough money to buy this weapon back from her.
Casually putting the dagger into her backpack, Cecilia returned to the earlier battlefield. She did not forget that when the other sharpshooter jerk died, he had also dropped a bracelet-like item.
........
Meanwhile, at the edge of the Mutant Jungle, Dragon Abyss felt an ominous sensation rising within as the subordinates he sent out failed to reply.
Logically, the area wasn't that large. As long as they blocked the two entrances, the people inside would have no way to escape except by logging out on the spot. With over a hundred people dispatched, it should have been impossible to lose them. Unless... did Cecilia's group actually foresee the danger and log off in advance?
As this possibility arose in his mind, Dragon Abyss felt a surge of frustration.
He had racked his brains, plotted for so long, and paid a not insignificant price to finally assemble a group of more than 160 people, including three top Han Country experts. That should have been more than enough to deal with Cecilia, but he never expected they would just log off, leaving him with the feeling of giving his all to throw a punch, only to hit cotton.
"If you act so heartlessly, don't blame me for being unjust!"
Thinking this, Dragon Abyss's face turned grim as he instructed the elegant young female secretary beside him:
"Xiaoli, log off now. Go notify a few forum moderators we're on good terms with, then spend some money on Weibo to hire a few gaming influencers with over a million followers. Get them to spread word everywhere about today's event—say that we almost killed the world-class Boss, but Cecilia snatched the kill, as did Yuewu and that Dawn's Light. Smear them as shamelessly as possible, I want their reputations destroyed!"
"Understood, Young Master Dragon."
Having agreed, the secretary prepared to Exit Game.
However, at this moment, several private messages suddenly popped up at the bottom of Dragon Abyss's screen.
Startled, Dragon Abyss reached out to stop the secretary from logging off, clicked on one message at random, and was instantly shocked to his core!
"Young Master Dragon, something big happened! Several of our groups have already been wiped out by Cecilia!"
She knew their team was surrounding the area, and still dared to charge in blindly?
Cecilia, how daring can you be!
Getting this news, Dragon Abyss was both shocked and delighted. He quickly pulled up the on-screen keyboard and typed: "Where's Cecilia now? What about the three Han Country players? Get them to take down Cecilia!"
After a while, the subordinate finally replied.
"Young Master Dragon, those three Han Country players were also killed by Cecilia. Their equipment even dropped, and now they're making a fuss at the resurrection point!"
"God damn it!"
Seeing this message, Dragon Abyss flew into a rage, fury blazing in his heart. He utterly hated those jerks now.
Initially, he didn't even want to target Cecilia anymore. After all, ever since the opening day boss snatching incident, Cecilia hadn't provoked him—and even if he wanted to, he had to consider whether he could even beat her.
But it was those jerks who made wild boasts about themselves, as if they could dismantle a Gundam barehanded. That's what made Dragon Abyss start plotting against Cecilia.
He thought that spending over ten million to buy the services of the three jerks would guarantee he could get some return from Cecilia. Who would have thought these jerks would be so useless—they lost to Cecilia in their very first fight, and even had their gear dropped. Yet they still had the nerve to keep causing trouble for him?
Dragon Abyss was close to losing his reason to anger. Just then, another message came from his subordinate.
"Young Master Dragon, these jerks are messing around here, saying you lack integrity, demanding you compensate them for their equipment losses. What should we do now?"
"What do we do? What the hell do you think!"
Can't deal with Cecilia, but you think I, Dragon Abyss, can't deal with a few jerks?
Dragon Abyss's face turned icy, his eyes venomous, and he coldly said to his nearby subordinates, "Pack up and let's go!"
"Young Master Dragon, where are we going?"
The subordinate looked baffled, as if drowned by water, at a loss.
No sooner had he spoken than a size 44 shoeprint appeared on his rear.
"Where else? Damn it, they dare ask me for compensation, let's go back to the city and beat those jerks up!"
At this moment, Dragon Abyss resolved to take his men and kill those jerks a hundred times, and even break their legs in reality until they rolled their way back to Han Country. Only then could he somewhat ease the hatred in his heart.
Deep in the Mutant Jungle, after receiving the captain's message, team after team of players breathed sighs of relief, promptly switched directions, and began retreating out of the woods.
One way or another, as long as they didn't have to deal with Cecilia, that was the best outcome.
Several teams had just been wiped out and, after reviving in the Main City, immediately messaged the others to be wary of Cecilia—she was a monster amongst monsters.
If, unfortunately, one happened to encounter her, they couldn't fight her, couldn't escape her, and could only kneel and pray for her VR helmet to suddenly lose power.
Yet, as Dragon Abyss's men rejoiced, Cecilia was immediately displeased.
Her warm-up exercise had just ended, and she was ready to let loose and start a massacre, when she suddenly saw on the minimap sent by the Darkwing Demon Bat that swarms of red dots were flooding out of the forest.
Anyone could guess that with the three strongest jerks down, Dragon Abyss must be feeling nervous and fleeing.
But, coming and going as you please? Shouldn't you ask for my permission first?
Activating her full 2,000 agility points, flintlock pistol in her right hand and dagger in her left, the silver-haired, twin-tailed girl in a maid outfit turned into a streak of white racing through the Mutant Jungle, reaping the lives of fleeing souls like the grim reaper.
Ordinary players with only two or three hundred agility—how could they possibly outrun Cecilia, whose speed was ten times theirs?
In less than twenty seconds, guided by her mini-map, Cecilia had caught up to the first group of fleeing targets.
If they were along her route, she slashed with her knife; if not, she shot them with her gun. Right now, most players only had thirty to forty physical defense—none could withstand her damage at all.
Her silver blade danced, bullets flying from Cecilia's flintlock as if they could home in on their targets. With each gunshot, a player would fall to the ground, their body exploding into a spray of glowing particles.
In less than ten seconds, Cecilia had cleared out this team of players. Unfortunately, not a single piece of equipment worth selling dropped.
She was undeterred—there were still plenty of targets left. With her weapon in hand, none of the players discovered by her could possibly escape.
In just a moment, the once peaceful forest devolved into chaos, filled with chickens flying, dogs jumping, and constant screams.
"What happened to them? Why is everyone running away?"
Amid low bushes, a head suddenly poked out. Watching the wailing, fleeing figures, Dawn's Light couldn't help but ask curiously.
"Who knows, maybe they kicked a hornet's nest."
Yuewu also poked her head out, gloating.
"Could it be An... Cecilia chasing them? They look really scared."
Next to Yuewu, a third head popped out—turns out it was Gu Yanxi.
Gu Yanxi seemed blessed with a prophetic tongue: as soon as she spoke, a gunshot suddenly rang out in the distance.
Immediately after, Dawn's Light's helmet suddenly sparked, and with a muffled groan he toppled over into the bushes, face pale, teeth clenched, life or death unknown.
"Get down!"
Yuewu hurriedly shouted at Gu Yanxi.
But Gu Yanxi didn't duck—instead, she got up, raised her staff, and immediately cast a regular [Divine Healing] spell on Dawn's Light.
+675!
As a holy white light flashed, a green number popped up above Dawn's Light's head, and his nearly depleted health was forcibly restored.
"Phew! What happened?"
Sitting up suddenly from the ground, Dawn's Light asked, lingering fear in his voice.
Just now, he had been observing the surroundings when he felt as if a heavy hammer had struck his head—his vision nearly turned white, and he almost passed out.
At that moment, he felt as though he was about to die, but a white-clad angel suddenly snatched him back from the hands of death.
Yuewu's expression was complicated as she raised a hand, pointing in a certain direction. "Look over there yourself."
Dawn's Light sat up, cautiously poked his head out from the bushes, and looked in the direction Yuewu pointed. He saw a familiar figure with twin-tails and a white maid outfit: left hand wielding a dagger, right hand holding a gun, approaching them with murderous intent.
"Is that... a pistol?"
Dawn's Light rubbed his eyes, then patted his head, suddenly feeling an urge to lie down again.
He felt there must be something wrong with his brain.
