Chapter 54 : Sir, the Times Have Changed
Chapter 54 : Sir, the Times Have Changed
Sir, the Times Have Changed"씨발! You bastard, do you want to die? Don't blame us for bullying you with numbers!"
conjurer was thoroughly enraged, raising his short staff as he began to charge magic while quickly retreating. Cecilia's class was assassin, while his class was mage. Daring to fight an assassin at close range was pretty much the same as courting death.
Seeing his teammate retreat, hamed also hurriedly used consecutive back leaps while readying his bow and arrow, aiming dead center at Cecilia's brow. Although retreating like this could effectively prevent the enemy from attacking from behind, the sight was honestly both ludicrous and amusing.
Dim, on the other hand, wasn't as panicked as the other two. His figure gradually faded, as if turning transparent, and soon he vanished from the clearing.
This was the assassin's skill [Stealth], which could only hide one's body, not the sounds of breathing or footsteps. Cecilia also had a similar skill, the powerful [Fearful Blood Shadow] that could only be learned at level 15, far more overpowered than [Stealth].
Facing the three Korean jerks braced for battle, Cecilia just stood still, watching them with a playful gaze, as if she were observing some novel toy.
Because of game mechanics, during player conflict in the wilderness, the first to attack would be marked as a red-named player, greatly increasing their chance to drop equipment after death.
Cecilia decided not to fight back for now. She would wait until all three of them, like herself, turned red-named—then wipe them all out!
If she wasn't mistaken, the assassin's dagger should be, just like her own, an epic purple weapon.
One had to admit, the pro e-sports players from Korea really had money. If she sold that, it would fetch a good price for sure.
However, seeing Cecilia just standing there not dodging, the three all thought she was provoking them, becoming even more enraged. Soon enough, conjurer finished charging his skill, and a long dragon's breath shot out from the tip of his staff, heading straight at Cecilia's face!
At this point, the distance between both sides was less than twenty meters. With an assassin's agility, she should have been able to dodge easily as soon as the dragon's breath was released.
Both sides were world-class experts, naturally engaging in psychological warfare. When chanting [Dragon's Breath], conjurer was already prepared for the possibility of the skill missing.
However, Cecilia still stood motionless, showing no sign of dodging. She just quietly watched the growing flames draw closer.
Seeing this, conjurer's eyes widened as his breathing grew rapid. From his experience, if Cecilia wanted to dodge now, it was already too late. This strike would certainly hit. She would pay for her ignorance and arrogance!
In the blink of an eye, the dragon's breath reached Cecilia; it was so close she could feel the searing heat at the tip of her nose. Yet at that moment, everything around her seemed to slow down. Cecilia merely tilted her head slightly, and that long fire dragon just barely grazed past her ear.
"She dodged it! How is that possible?!"
conjurer's expression froze, and even Dim, who was currently in [Stealth], looked utterly shocked.
If he had been targeted just now, dim knew he wouldn't have been able to dodge at that range, no matter how hard he tried. Not to mention, until now, Cecilia still wore an indifferent look.
"Too slow."
Cecilia looked at conjurer, her gaze calm, as if the sudden attack had hardly caused a ripple—almost as though the dragon's breath that just grazed her was utterly insignificant.
"I'm disappointed. If that's all you're capable of, then it's my turn next."
As she finished speaking, hamed suddenly released his bowstring on the other side, an arrow whistling powerfully through the air: "Don't get cocky! Go to hell!"
Clang!
A crisp metallic sound rang out, accompanied by a silver arc of dagger light. In an instant, before anyone could see clearly, the nearly invisible black line of the arrow was sliced straight down the middle. The metal tip spun through the air like flower petals and fell weakly to the ground.
hamed's heart sank to the bottom.
At some point, a silver dagger had appeared in Cecilia's right hand—seemingly the very weapon she'd just used to split the flying arrow clean in two.
This was not Cecilia's first time doing this. She had done the same thing last time in the arena, severing a sharpshooter player's arrow in two. With that experience, she'd become even more proficient this time.
This must be luck, or else she's cheating!
hamed simply couldn't accept this outcome, biting his lip hard as he drew his longbow again. Then, his right hand jerked as if seizing, and arrow after arrow shot forth in rapid succession!
[Quick Reload] + [Piercing Arrow] + [Penetrating Shot]—this triple combo skill could only be executed by high-level sharpshooter players. It required incredible hand speed, and consumed both stamina and mana at a tremendous rate.
Yet, pushed to the limit, hamed's right hand was a blur. A net of arrows howled toward Cecilia, every possible dodge path sealed off. As Korea's top sharpshooter, he aimed each successive shot at where Cecilia could possibly dodge next.
This time, he was certain—the silver-haired girl would be turned into a hedgehog by his rainstorm of arrows!
Meanwhile, conjurer didn't sit idle; his staff flashed again, unleashing another burning dragon's breath, straight at Cecilia.
Let's see how you dodge this one!
Only Dim stayed hidden in the shadows, still waiting for the perfect moment to strike. True top-level assassins only showed their fangs when a one-hit kill was possible.
The situation now seemed to be a certain kill, yet Cecilia made no effort to dodge. Instead, she headed straight for hamed and conjurer, the silver blade in her hand dancing around her like a dragon.
Clang, clang, clang! Arrow shafts split again and again, as if Death itself was strolling casually across the battlefield; the distance between Cecilia and her two opponents kept shrinking.
This is absurd...too absurd!
hamed's right hand began to ache, his stamina bar dropped below half, but he gritted his teeth, using [Back Leap] and [Roll] to retreat while maintaining a continuous barrage.
Yet, the storm of arrows did nothing to slow the silver-haired girl's advance. Far from killing her, she hadn't even lost a drop of health so far!
At this point, even a blind person could see it—Cecilia was strong, far stronger than any pro player they'd faced before. They simply weren't on the same level!
Cutting every flying arrow in half without taking any damage—maybe once could be luck, but ten, twenty, fifty times?
Obviously, whether in reaction speed or dynamic vision, she had reached, or surpassed, human limits!
A monster...she must be a monster!
Finally, after Cecilia flawlessly sliced through the last arrow, hamed hit his limit. His left hand, gripping the longbow, dropped limply. Breathing hard, face flushed, his stamina bar showed a mere two points remaining.
That last attack was all he had left, and it'd take at least fifteen minutes to recover.
Fifteen minutes—enough for Cecilia to kill him thousands of times.
"Why did you stop? Not going to continue?"
Seeing the exhausted sharpshooter, Cecilia stopped as well, kindly asking.
hamed didn't answer, just glared at Cecilia with bloodshot eyes, big beads of sweat rolling down his face.
"You're too stupid, still using such an outdated weapon as a bow. No wonder you're getting left behind by society."
Cecilia shook her head helplessly and added, "Well, guess I'll be generous and show you country bumpkins something new."
With that, she lifted her left skirt hem and, under the dumbfounded gazes of all present, drew a pistol strapped to her thigh and aimed it at hamed's head.
"Sir, the times have changed."
Without giving hamed a chance to speak, Cecilia pulled the trigger.
[Blood-Infused Silver Bullet Triggered! Explosive Shell Created!]
The deafening gunshot rang out; hamed's broad forehead erupted instantly!
-1398!
A vivid red critical damage number floated up. The Korean sharpshooter stared wide-eyed in disbelief and fell backwards, dead, turning into a shattered cluster of light.
Ding—a blue light ball dropped to the ground, morphing into a bracelet-shaped item.
The clearing fell silent. In the distance, flocks of birds startled by the gunshot took flight.
"Ah 씨발! Cheating Chinese, you're hacking!"
To see someone use a pistol to kill someone in a medieval world of sword and magic—conjurer was both shocked and furious, shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Shut up, you son of a bitch!"
Cecilia's face instantly turned cold. She'd put up with this particular jerk long enough. As the next silver bullet loaded, she turned the gun and aimed it at conjurer's terrified, pancake-like face.
Bang!
