Chapter 6 Thunder Method
Chapter 6 Thunder Method
In the main hall of Shenxiao Temple, Song Quyou knelt on a prayer mat, performed the apprenticeship ceremony, and served the apprenticeship tea, thus truly becoming a disciple.
"Go away from worries. Take this Five Thunder Orthodox Method and practice it. If you don't understand anything, you can ask your senior brothers and sisters."
Song Quyou took the thread-bound ancient book, looked at the Five Thunder Orthodox Method written on the cover, and bowed deeply, saying:
"Thank you, Master, for bestowing upon me the Dharma. I will diligently cultivate and live up to the honor of my lineage."
……
Having obtained the Thunder Method, Song Quyou eagerly studied it carefully in his room and gained a clear understanding.
The purpose of this thunder technique is to condense a thunder pill in the Yellow Court and use the power of the thunder pill to move the thunder of the nine heavens.
To cultivate oneself, one must pass through three stages: First, refining the five elements—metal in the lungs, wood in the liver, water in the kidneys, fire in the heart, and earth in the spleen—to make them abundant and continuous. Second, transforming the five elements into thunder, converting them into thunderous energy, then using the spiritual aperture to contain a portion of the heavenly thunder, condensing it with the Yellow Court to form a thunder pill. At this stage, one can initially invoke thunder. Third, receiving the talisman, this step requires the power of talismans, guiding the Thunder Ancestor talisman into the Niwan Palace. Using the talisman as a foundation, one visualizes the Thunder Command of the Jade Purity Palace, thereby invoking the azure, crimson, and purple divine thunder descending from the Jade Purity Palace. However, such talismans cannot be drawn by oneself; they must be approved by the Jade Purity Palace and bestowed by heaven.
Song Quyou closed the ancient book, but did not immediately begin his cultivation. Instead, he walked through the mountains and forests, listening to the chirping of insects, watching the leaping of grasshoppers, feeling the gentle caress of the mountain breeze, and gazing at the bright moon in the sky, keeping it close at hand.
Until you no longer feel impatient, restless, or concerned.
Feeling inspired, Song Quyou found a blue stone in nature, sat cross-legged to calm his mind, and after clearing his mind of all distractions, he followed the instructions in the book to visualize the location of the five internal organs with each breath, in the order of the five elements generating each other, and visualized the true text of liver exhalation, heart exhalation, spleen exhalation, lung exhalation, and kidney exhalation.
Until the five internal organs exhibit the growth of green wood, the rising of red fire, the thickening of yellow earth, the austere appearance of white gold, and the deep black water, these extraordinary phenomena gradually grow stronger together.
As dawn broke, the little black cat finished its practice and expelled its pent-up energy. It stretched and ran into Song Quyou's arms, who was also finishing his practice, and began scratching him with its sharp claws.
Song Quyou smiled faintly, showing no displeasure at the little rascal's act of ruining his clothes.
But it couldn't be allowed to run rampant. Song Quyou lifted it up, tossed it high into the air, and caught it steadily.
However, Xiao Heitan remained expressionless, it was hard to tell whether he disliked or liked it, but he seemed to enjoy scratching Song Quyou's clothes even more.
At this moment, Master Chixiao walked out of the temple, and Song Quyou put down the black charcoal and bowed.
"That's right, a seed of Qi can be planted in the five internal organs overnight. The rest is just a matter of patiently working to fill each organ with the Qi of its respective organs."
"Thank you for your guidance, Master."
"Your fourth senior brother is going out to buy supplies today. You've been in the mountains for many years, so go with him and soak up some of his good fortune."
"I'll listen to my master."
……
The mountain path is narrow, covered with moss and lush forest. The scorching sun shines through the gaps in the forest, leaving shimmering patches of light on the path.
"Senior brother, I've been a disciple for so many years, how come I've never heard of who the third disciple is?"
The fourth senior brother chewed on a stalk of grass in his mouth and casually remarked, "He's become a bald monk."
At this point, Xiao Zhuoguang also became interested and said mysteriously, "I'm telling you, you absolutely mustn't mention this to Master, okay?"
"Junior brother will absolutely not tell."
"Your third senior brother's real name is Chen Ninghai. Even I, his senior brother, have to give way to his talent. After he cultivated the Thunder Core, he wanted to go further, so he asked our master for the Thunder Ancestor Talisman passed down by the patriarch. Of course, this was not allowed. The Thunder Ancestor Talisman can only be passed down to the next Shenxiao Temple Master, which was reserved for our eldest senior brother. Thus, a small favor became a great enmity, and resentment was sown in his heart. Then, he was instigated and promised by the Western Sect, who absconded with the temple's scriptures and became a bald-headed bodhisattva in the Western Paradise."
"I see. So, the Western Sect also has a share in our Five Thunder Orthodox Method?"
"Not only that, but all the talismans left behind by our Shenxiao Temple elders were also taken by that person."
As he spoke, Xiao Zhuoguang sighed and said, "Now, when it comes to talismans, the Western Sect knows more than we do."
After traversing the mountains and forests, a vast expanse suddenly opens up before you, revealing fertile fields and beautiful ponds below, crisscrossed by orderly paths. Further on, a solitary city stands under the sun, surrounded by a river that separates it from the nearby mountains, flowing gently eastward along its foothills.
"The city we're heading to is the one ahead."
The two, carrying bundles and with their sleeves billowing, strolled along the edge of the paddy field, waving to the lush rice seedlings in the breeze. The mirror-like water beside them was occasionally broken by leaping fish.
"When we enter the city later, if anyone comes to perform a ritual or ask for a peace charm, junior brother, please do not say anything. Senior brother will handle everything."
"Junior brother understands."
The city was bustling with people, and the two first arrived at the cattle market.
The livestock manure here is piled up like mountains, and the place is filled with the stench of excrement.
Song Quyou followed behind his fourth senior brother, watching him sweep past one pen after another, missing batches of robust livestock, before finally fixing his gaze on a donkey vomiting blood and with a bloated belly in the distance by the roadside.
The donkey's belly was as big as a drum, and its coat was withered and yellow. Even a layman could tell at a glance that the donkey was sick and didn't have much time left.
"Seller, how much is your donkey?"
"Sir, you have a good eye. Our donkey is robust and healthy, and costs eight taels of silver."
"I'm talking about the one by the roadside," Xiao Zhuoguang said, pointing to the sick donkey by the roadside.
The merchant's expression suddenly changed, and he looked at the two Taoist priests as if they were idiots.
"You two Taoist priests are really joking. Anyone with eyes can see that the donkey is sick and doesn't have much time left, yet you want to buy a sick donkey."
"Name your price. I'm a kind-hearted Taoist priest and I can't bear to see people suffer."
"I plan to sell that donkey to a restaurant. The meat alone is worth three taels of silver. If you want it, Daoist, we don't need much, just three taels."
Xiao Zhuoguang crossed his arms, his demeanor suddenly shifting. "Before I became a monk, I was in your line of work. Your donkey is sick, nobody will buy it. If you want to sell it, you have to pay someone to slaughter it. With that appearance, selling the meat, skin, and bones, it's worth at most nine hundred coins. Not only is it a waste of effort, but if people find out it's diseased donkey meat, your reputation will be ruined. I'm not going to play games with you. One tael of silver, take it or leave it."
The merchant was sweating slightly after being talked to, and lost his previous confidence.
"Seeing how compassionate and generous the Taoist priest is, one tael of silver is one tael of silver."
"Junior brother, pay up."
Song Quyou, who was watching the show from the side, took out a tael of silver from his bundle, weighed it in his hand, and tossed it to the merchant.
Xiao Zhuoguang walked to the roadside, looked at the donkey that was paralyzed and unable to move, and sighed softly, saying, "Your life is spared now that you've seen me."
As he spoke, he took out a mud ball from his pocket, pried open the donkey's dirty, blood-stained mouth, and disgustedly stuffed the mud ball inside.
After inserting the medicine, Xiao Zhuoguang stood up and forcefully poked several acupoints on the donkey with his finger wrapped in lightning.
The wailing echoed throughout the market, frightening the livestock in their enclosures into fleeing and startling passersby who came to investigate.
After everything was done, Xiao Zhuoguang hurriedly pulled Song Quyou back.
Just a few steps later, a stream of murky, yellowish-brown, foul-smelling ascites gushed out from the donkey's rump, traveling several meters away. Several onlookers were caught off guard and got a taste of it.
With the ascites drained, the donkey regained its energy, stood up easily, and ran straight towards Xiao Zhuoguang, wanting to be affectionate.
