Chapter 69 : Housing Rental Plan
Housing Rental PlanCecilia admitted that she was in a bad mood tonight and had been a bit impulsive.
There was nothing unusual about players attacking each other, or having a red name over one's head. After all, she had killed quite a few players herself recently and was already used to it. However, attacking or killing other players in public areas within the Main City could be troublesome.
Day or night, in every street and alley of the Main City, groups of three to five NPC guards could always be seen. They wore full suits of metal armor, long spears or giant swords slung on their backs, and roamed the city aimlessly on patrol.
Normally, these NPC guards coexisted peacefully with players. Even if a player deliberately bumped into them to provoke them, the most they would do was glare fiercely, then walk around the obstacle and continue their patrol.
But as soon as they saw anyone with a red name overhead or a player engaging in illegal activity, the guards would instantly become highly agitated, raise their weapons, shout, and charge over. They wouldn't ask questions or listen to any explanations from players; they would simply chop the offending player into mincemeat.
Because of this, Cecilia kept deliberately avoiding the nearby patrols of guards as she went to the east district, doing her best to avoid any contact or conflict with them.
As she always said, she could fight—but there was no need.
The only thing to be thankful for was that Cecilia had a very high agility value, extremely sharp perception, and a skill that allowed her to instantly teleport using Stealth at night. She had even developed her own unique technique for running along rooftops and walls. Thanks to this, she managed the whole journey without incident, narrowly avoiding several waves of patrolling guards without triggering a single battle.
With the deed she had gotten from Gu Yanxi, Cecilia searched as she dodged around, spending a full half hour before she and Gu Yanxi finally arrived at their destination.
Just as described on the deed, the property was a three-story wooden building, located right by the roadside, next to an intersection, and less than one hundred fifty meters from the arena.
If this building existed in the real world, it would definitely be considered a prime Gold commercial space, with annual rental income likely exceeding a million—it wouldn't be an exaggeration.
What's more, the place had three floors and was so spacious that it wasn't any less impressive than the inns Cecilia had stayed in previously.
When she laid eyes on this house, even Cecilia couldn't help but marvel at Gu Yanxi's luck—it was truly enviable.
No wonder so many new players had been drawn into Legend of Kaloran recently. If anyone had Gu Yanxi's luck and managed to draw a deed for such a property at the start of the game, then waited a couple of years for the land price to rise and sold it, they might as well have a new house in real life.
"This house will be our new home from now on!"
A girl's worries came and went quickly. Staring up at the tall building ahead, Gu Yanxi spoke excitedly.
"We can't really live here forever, though."
Cecilia smiled, then added, "But we can always open a shop here. When land prices go up, you could sell it too, if you want."
"How much could this house sell for?"
Gu Yanxi asked curiously.
"Hmm... Hard to say right now, but definitely more expensive than a set of blue rare equipment, about the same value as a set of purple equipment. Later on, maybe it'll be worth even more. Conservatively, I'd estimate about five million."
Cecilia lowered her head and considered it, giving an uncertain estimate.
Of course, that price was probably somewhat inflated—after all, it was only a building in a game, not likely to be worth more than a real-life property.
Unless, in the future, the game's commercial features were expanded greatly and players could freely open their own shops, then its commercial value would truly shine.
"But isn't it very close to the arena?"
Standing at the intersection, Gu Yanxi pointed to a direction. "Look, you can see the arena's rooftop right from here. It's right by the roadside and so big. If I sold it for five million, I'd be at a loss. I'd rather keep it for myself."
Being the landlord's daughter, she had some business sense after all.
"You could also rent it out. As far as I know, in a couple of days, someone will really need a shop. I think she's worried about that right now,"
Cecilia said with a smirk.
"Huh?"
Gu Yanxi was taken aback, but quickly realized what Cecilia meant. "You mean the one who teamed up with us today... Little Persimmon Puppy?"
"Mm. She's planning to hold an auction in a week, monopolizing the current high-end equipment market in the game before it's fully developed. But she's been unable to find a venue. Renting an inn seemed too shabby. If you rent her this house for one day, I think she'd be thrilled."
Gu Yanxi's mind immediately started whirring after hearing Cecilia's words. Head down, she began calculating with her fingers.
Her family lived off renting out properties, so she was well-versed in the rules.
Soon, Gu Yanxi looked up, took a deep breath, and asked seriously, "This house is at least 600 square meters. Renting it for one day—charging her two thousand isn't too much, is it?"
"Remember the two pet eggs I sold her for ten million?"
Cecilia asked instead of answering.
"I remember. Why?"
Gu Yanxi was cooperative and guessed, "Do you mean, she's rich, so I could charge her more?"
"No, what I mean is, that woman is actually quite ruthless. I'll bet you: by the time the auction happens, she'll sell those eggs that cost five million for as much as eight million, nine million, or even over ten million. So you can definitely charge her more—otherwise, she'll be making a huge profit off you."
"Then... three thousand?"
Gu Yanxi thought for a moment, tilting her head, and asked again.
"Don't be polite with her. Just go for thirty thousand. After all, apart from you, no one else in this game can offer such a large property right now."
Cecilia showed a half-smile as she made her suggestion.
Hearing that, Gu Yanxi's face immediately turned red and her breathing grew rapid. Thirty thousand for one day! Her family's whole month's rent barely reached that amount.
Still, in the end, she nodded and softly replied, "O-okay, I'll talk to her then."
Seeing how timid she looked, Cecilia rubbed her forehead helplessly. "You're the world's top priest now! At least have a little confidence in yourself... Never mind, I'll help you negotiate."
