Chapter 46 : Slaying the D-Rank World Boss
Chapter 46 : Slaying the D-Rank World Boss
Slaying the D-Rank World BossAs a level 14 ultimate skill, [Sky Fission] didn't boast high dmg, but its area of effect was massive; more importantly, it could inflict a brief knock-up along with a 3-second fear, making it an absolute god-tier crowd control skill.
As the illusory bat shadow shattered, countless beams of crimson light rained down like meteors. At that moment, the Sawtooth Demon King Crocodile directly beneath Cecilia took the full brunt of the attack, its scaly hide flashing continuous light blue dmg numbers, densely packed across its massive form.
Simultaneously, it was thrown into a sustained 3-second fear, frantically thrashing and rolling in the crimson rain of arrows—sending muddy water flying everywhere.
Everything was proceeding exactly according to plan, and this was exactly the effect Cecilia was after.
However, to kill the Sawtooth Demon King Crocodile—whose HP numbered in the tens of thousands—this amount of dmg was still not nearly enough!
As the brief knock-up ended, the twin wings behind Cecilia vanished in a shower of radiant motes. In the next instant, she pushed down on her skirt and, like a meteor, rocketed directly onto the Sawtooth Demon King Crocodile's broad, flattened back. Her right hand raised the silver table knife high and, without holding back in the least, she stabbed down with all her might!
-4569! (Physical Dmg)
-1834! (True Dmg)
The crocodile's hide, tough as tiles, could not hinder the blow; the knife skewered straight through, and crimson blood, forced by the pressure within and without, spouted from the wound like a fountain. Caught off guard, Cecilia could only turn away, but half her face was instantly splattered with blood—making her look very much like a demon freshly climbed from Hell.
Her catlike tongue flicked across her lips, tasting sweet, like fruit juice—she didn't dislike it.
Struck hard along its back, the Sawtooth Demon King Crocodile's massive bulk stiffened, and its coiled tail abruptly went ramrod straight. It wanted to counterattack, to use the [Death Roll] skill to hurl the terrifying human on its back down and crush her—but the shadow of that bat still cast too great a psychological shadow.
With its bloodline being suppressed, it could not even muster the effort to so much as twitch its claws.
At this point, there were about 1.5 seconds of the fear effect left.
Drawing out her unstained table knife, Cecilia sneered and stabbed down again. At max level, [Maid Outfit Mastery] granted her a 5x equipment stats boost, with nearly 100% crit rate and bonus dmg; at this stage, using any magic-type skill would be a disservice to her attack power.
Several more stabs and the croc's HP dropped sharply again, plummeting below half. As the 3-second effect of the fear came to its end, the sawtooth demon croc rolled its torpedo-shaped body, trying to crush Cecilia into the mud beneath.
If such a monster—tens of tons in weight—crushed her into the lake's muddy bottom, even Cecilia would be ground to powder by this tank-like terror.
Fortunately, the croc's HP had reached Cecilia's execution threshold. Just before the beast rolled over, Cecilia's figure suddenly accelerated; with a two-step running start she leapt for the shore, twisting gracefully in the air as her table knife drew a silver arc and, like lightning, drove itself into the giant, ferocious head of the Sawtooth Demon King Crocodile.
"Farewell."
She offered her silent farewell, landed softly, staggered backward a few steps, and then plopped down on the damp sandy ground—simply watching as the croc's HP bar suddenly emptied, while gray-white numbers representing true dmg floated above its head.
-16875!
BOOM!
The titanic beast crashed down, becoming an unmoving corpse. Its massive body sank into the muddy water, only its huge head still exposed, causing the lake's surface to rise several meters—almost to Cecilia's ankles.

"System notification: You have received quest rewards: 60 [Premium Crocodile Hide], [Trap Setting] skill book (Sharpshooter class exclusive); [Old Hunter's Recurve Bow] (blue rare-grade); 1500 experience points."
"......"
The Sawtooth Demon King Crocodile's corpse had just fallen when System Miss's notifications began sounding in Cecilia's mind, one after another, continuing for over a full minute before finally quieting down.
Opening her inventory and gazing at the haul of loot, even the veteran Cecilia couldn't help but unconsciously display a sweet smile.
This outing had truly been rewarding—not only had she slain the only D-rank world boss in Legend of Kaloran so far, she'd finally completed a side quest she'd been stuck on for ages. The rewards were no less than what she'd earn for killing a world-class boss.
Her experience bar jumped twice, almost breaking through to level 16.
The haul included not only equipment but—more rarely—two skill books: one purple epic for swordsman, another blue rare-grade for Sharpshooter, plus a piece of pet equipment.
Cecilia knew pet equipment existed, but hadn't expected the Darkwing Demon Bat's first piece of gear would be acquired like this.
[Predator's Tear]
Type: Pet Equipment
Quality: Purple Epic
Minimum level required: 15
Effect: Attack +249, Physical Defense +136, Magic Defense +10, pet Tameness +20%
Active skill: [Secrete Salts]: Removes all control effects from the pet, grants +80 attack, +60 physical defense, +30 magic defense, +20% movement speed for 6 seconds. (Cooldown: 600 seconds)
Description: Sometimes, even apex predators like the sawtooth crocodile will shed false tears.
........
In terms of stats, this piece of pet gear was already a small treasure. Although not quite as good as Cecilia's current [Rose Maid] set, it boasted a self-buffing active skill—a nice bonus, if not critical.
Closing the [Predator's Tear] details, Cecilia opened up the epic set dropped by the croc: [Crocodile Head Tyrant Set].
Judging by the exclusive swordsman skill book, it was clear this set was, just like the first [Goblin Hero] set, swordsman equipment; minimum equip level: 18.
Since it wasn't for her class, Cecilia lost interest, gave the stats a cursory glance, and tossed it back into her bag.
Dawn's Light would surely be interested; she could sell it to him later.
If he didn't have enough gold, she could always have Little Persimmon Puppy help sell it—being a professional Merchant, she was sure to fetch the best price for top-tier gear.
[Silverflash Pierce]'s cooldown was already up. After quickly scanning the rest of her loot, Cecilia closed her inventory and hefted her sparkling table knife once again.
She hadn't forgotten that, in this little lake, another world-class boss lurked—ripe for the picking.
........
Back in the Mutant Jungle, the party of four that Cecilia had abandoned were still struggling through the thick forest.
Apart from Gu Yanxi, the others weren't in good shape. Yuewu and Little Persimmon Puppy were at healthy HP, but the most wretched was Dawn's Light—down to less than 30% HP, face grim as he gulped bottle after bottle of red healing potion.
"Um... Uncle, forgive me, I really didn't mean to..."
Realizing the atmosphere had grown heavy, Gu Yanxi held up her staff and forced a smile.
"All right, it's fine, I know you didn't mean it."
He said so, but when Dawn's Light turned to look at Gu Yanxi, he couldn't stop himself from shuddering.
A few minutes earlier, they'd encountered a level 15 elite monster, deliberately left behind by Cecilia, which had caused some trouble for the party. However, with Dawn's Light and Yuewu's skilled teamwork, they dispensed with the beast at minimal cost.
In the fight, Yuewu was unscathed, and Dawn's Light had lost about 10% HP—nothing big, a few potions would restore it. But Gu Yanxi, thrifty and not wanting to waste healing potions, grew a little itchy and suggested using her Divine Healing to heal him.
Dawn's Light happily agreed.
Gu Yanxi... snapped.
Dawn's Light collapsed.
Gu Yanxi paled in horror, realizing she'd used one skill too many and hastily stopped.
Little Persimmon Puppy looked on in shock.
Yuewu gloated in schadenfreude.
Did Dawn's Light die?
He did not. He shakily got up, lips trembling as he waved his hands in panic.
"Don't... don't heal me anymore, please... I'm begging you..."
Thus, the current, near-eerily quiet atmosphere.
They glanced at each other in silence.
In that moment, aside from Gu Yanxi, a single question floated through the minds of the other three:
My god! Are all the people around Cecilia monsters like this?
