Chapter 21 Sacrificial Spirit Emperor's House
Chapter 21 Sacrificial Spirit Emperor's House
The demon that had entrenched itself on the isolated peak for thousands of years and harmed countless human beings actually died at the hands of Mo Yuan. This news immediately caused Di Wu, Shan Li and others to gasp in shock, followed by a near-jumping celebration.
Mo Yuan then recounted everything that had happened.
However, he only mentioned Xuan Zhizi's identity to Diwu, Shanli, and Cangyan, in order to avoid the human tribes within the Gujue Peak territory from panicking and causing chaos.
"Senior Mo Yuan killed a demon at the peak of the True Immortal realm with his mid-stage True Immortal cultivation. He truly deserves to be called a powerful being of the Qilin Clan. If it were me, I would have been killed by that Xuan Zhizi long ago."
"The Gu Diao clan is virtually unknown among the demon race, and they are so weak that they are unlikely to notice Xuan Zhi Zi's death."
"I will guard the Lonely Peak and protect the human tribes within a radius of hundreds of thousands of miles. I will never let down Senior Mo Yuan's efforts and painstaking efforts."
Inside a stone house, Diwu bowed deeply to Moyuan and spoke solemnly.
Emperor Wu had had enough of the thousands of years of wandering and searching for opportunities to improve his cultivation. Moreover, his return to the territory of Gujue Peak was also due to some unseen premonition.
Even though the Qilin clan is no longer as glorious as it was during the early Dragon-Han Calamity, it is still an auspicious divine beast in the primordial world. Mo Yuan's cultivation level and combat power are formidable, and his future prospects are bound to be extraordinary.
Protecting the human tribes within the territory of Lonely Peak, preventing Mo Yuan from being distracted by this matter, is also Diwu's way of forging a good relationship with Mo Yuan and acquiring this connection.
In his eyes, Mo Yuan had an extraordinary demeanor and was definitely destined for great things. If he could share Mo Yuan's burdens, it would be a tremendous opportunity.
"Since Fellow Daoist Diwu has this intention, then I am relieved."
"Perfect timing. My next plan requires you, Shanli, and Cangyan to complete it together. The worship of the sun, moon, and stars, and the sacrifice of powerful beings are inevitable paths for human tribes to develop, so we cannot sever this path."
"However, the objects of the sacrifice should be the virtuous people in the primordial world, and what is offered can no longer be living people, but incense, immortal herbs and spiritual flowers, or food made from the flesh and blood of wild beasts."
"Fellow Daoist Diwu, would you be willing to become an object of worship and offerings for the Rocky Tribe, to become the Rocky Tribe's sacrificial spirit?"
Mo Yuan helped Di Wu up, then carefully scanned Di Wu, Shan Li, and Cang Yan with his eyes, revealing his plans in detail.
Incense offerings are made, and incense becomes a deity.
The spirits and the human tribes share both prosperity and ruin.
Furthermore, to become a sacrificial spirit, one must not recklessly commit murder and must be a person with auspicious omens. Within the territory of the Lonely Peak, perhaps only the Imperial House is the most suitable.
In addition, human tribes can also offer sacrifices to newly sentient spirit trees and stones, cultivating their own tribe's sacrificial spirits from existence to non-existence.
Of course, powerful beings in the primordial world and disciples of Western sects can also become sacrificial spirits, but they may not be willing to bind their own fate to human tribes.
These powerful beings, and their disciples in Western sects, tend to become objects of worship for humans, so that they can receive offerings and faith without having to get involved in human affairs.
The spirits, however, are required to spread the teachings and educate the creatures in the human tribe, and to stand up for the tribe when it is in danger of extinction.
If the sacrificial spirit wants to sever its causal and spiritual connection with the human tribe in order to avoid disaster, it must pay the price of severe damage to its very essence.
"Fellow Daoist Diwu, please become the sacrificial spirit of my Rock Tribe!"
"If you become a sacrificial spirit, dozens of other human tribes will follow the example of my Rock Tribe. At that time, all these tribes will unite and be able to build cities within the territory of Lonely Peak, and even establish a cultivation kingdom."
"In this way, countless compatriots will be protected, and our future will be filled with more hope."
Shanli and Cangyan bowed to Diwu, their faces showing both excitement and solemnity, as they expressed their heartfelt wishes.
To build cities and establish a cultivation kingdom.
This was something they had never dared to hope for before, but now there was a glimmer of hope.
"Chief, priest, please rise quickly."
"Since Senior Mo Yuan has extended an invitation, how could I refuse his kindness? From now on, I will be the sacrificial spirit of the Rock Tribe, and even other human tribes within the Gujue Peak region, protecting all living beings and bringing blessings to the region."
Without much hesitation, Diwu agreed immediately.
The moment he finished speaking, he felt his primordial spirit tremble slightly, creating an inexplicable and inexplicable causal connection with the Rock Tribe.
"Fellow Daoist Diwu is truly generous!"
Mo Yuan nodded and smiled.
With a slight movement of his divine sense, the Primordial Mirror and the Five Virtues Brush appeared before him. He wrote down the transformation of the auspicious tree of the Primordial Era, Emperor House, and the matter of the human race's spirit sacrifice in the Primordial Mirror.
The Book of Ten Thousand Spirits, The Record of Sages and Worthies, The Imperial House of Humanity's Sacrificial Spirits.
The chapters on destiny, rites and laws, and the system of sacrifices for the human race to worship spirits.
The Daoist teachings, unorthodox and heretical doctrines, and the ways of worshipping spirits in the faith of gods.
Diwu was the first sacrificial spirit of the human race, and in Mo Yuan's view, he was qualified to be included in the Record of Sages and Worthies. Offering sacrifices to sacrificial spirits was a ritual system in the Book of Rites.
As for the Daoist teachings, they can be divided into five chapters.
Chapter on the True Path of the Mysterious Sect, Chapter on the Unorthodox Path of the Unorthodox Sect, Chapter on the True Understanding of the Laws, Chapter on the Manifestation of Supernatural Powers, Chapter on the Common Return to the Great Dao.
Among them, unorthodox methods can be divided into witch clan secret arts, demon clan transformation, Asura demonic arts, and divine beliefs, while the way of spirit worship belongs to a kind of divine belief.
The way of worshipping spirits is to gather the power of incense and prayers, obtain human blessings, and forge a divine status.
After finishing writing, Mo Yuan raised the Five Virtues Brush and gently touched the foreheads of Diwu, Shanli, and Cangyan. All the information about the Way of Sacrificing Spirits appeared in their minds.
In truth, the way of worshipping spirits is not simply a system of sacrifice; it is also intricately connected with human etiquette and laws.
Mo Yuan has already laid out the general framework; the remaining details will need to be refined by Di Wu, Shan Li, and Cang Yan in future practice.
"Many thanks to Senior Mo Yuan for bestowing upon me such an opportunity!"
Diwu bowed to Mo Yuan again, looking extremely grateful.
The way of worshipping spirits is mysterious and unpredictable.
Cause and effect, energy and human nature are connected. By obtaining the power of incense offerings and human blessings, one can embark on the path of becoming a god through incense offerings. In the future, there will be opportunities to assume the responsibilities of heaven and earth and receive the blessing of heavenly fortune.
"Fellow Daoist Diwu, there is no need for thanks. This path of spirit worship is something I comprehended by following the general trend of the Heavenly Dao and receiving guidance from the Heavenly Dao Master. This path belongs to the human race and countless people in the prehistoric Three Realms who follow the Heavenly Dao and are kind-hearted."
"These are the Profound Enlightenment Pill, the Rejuvenation Pill, and the Dragon Elephant Pill. I will entrust them to Fellow Daoist Diwu for safekeeping. You can use them for your own cultivation, as well as for the cultivation of Clan Chief Shanli and Priest Cangyan. Alternatively, you can integrate them into the spiritual water to nurture the people in your clan."
Mo Yuan raised his forelimbs, and three streams of light appeared out of thin air.
Ten pills each of the Tongxuan Pill, Huiyuan Pill, and Longxiang Pill were placed in separate jade bottles.
Changing the subject, Mo Yuan took out a jade pendant and said, "By the way, this is a jade pendant I made. With it, you can go to Qilin Cliff to find me. No matter how high or low my cultivation level is, I can do my best to resolve the crisis of the human race at a critical moment."
"However, this opportunity only comes once! Humanity must strive for self-improvement; we cannot live under the protection of the Holy Mother, the Sage of Humanity, and the three Ancestors of Humanity. And I can only act once!"
This jade pendant was crafted by Mo Yuan using Pure Heart Golden Thunder Bamboo, Geng Gold Spirit Crystal, and other materials, and contains a trace of Qilin True Fire left behind by him.
Holding the jade pendant will allow you to avoid disaster and successfully reach Qilin Cliff by following the guidance.
The workings of fate in this world are wondrous beyond words.
If he hadn't encountered the Rock Tribe here, he wouldn't have been able to resolve the crisis, gain the virtue of the earth, know the thoughts of the Heavenly Lord, or the future fortune he might achieve.
He knew of the crisis that humanity would face in the future, so he left the jade pendant as a token, giving him an excuse to save humanity from the crisis and protect a portion of humanity.
This cause and effect is ultimately mysterious and enigmatic.
Humanity is the future protagonist of the world, and the chessboard for the struggle between many saints and sects.
He didn't want to become completely entangled with the human race and become their so-called babysitter, which is why he gave away the jade pendant and made it clear that he would only make a move once.
"Senior Mo Yuan's kindness is immeasurable; we will always remember your instructions."
Diwu, Shanli, and Cangyan bowed respectfully.
When he looked up, he found that Mo Yuan had already left the stone house, and he could not find any trace of him.
After accomplishing his task, he left his body and concealed his merits and fame.
The three bowed again towards the horizon, and then discussed informing the tribespeople about making Diwu the sacred spirit of the Panshi tribe, while also preparing for the ceremony.
That night, the three highly skilled cultivators all fell asleep at the same time, and had the same dream.
"The Heavenly Venerable Who Recovers Sins from the Nine Netherworlds!"
"This is the enlightenment bestowed by the sage of the Human Sect. We can build a statue for Senior Mo Yuan and have our clansmen offer incense to him. He can then enjoy the power of the incense offerings from the human race and receive the blessings of humanity."
Diwu, Shanli, and Cangyan knelt and kowtowed in the direction of Kunlun Mountain, their eyes filled with deep awe, and they showed no sign of reluctance.
The sages of the Human Teachings created the Golden Elixir Dao and passed on immeasurable Daoist teachings to humankind.
Her status among humans is no less than that of the Holy Mother, and they will certainly not slacken in their guidance of the three.
So, a few days later, Diwu became the sacred spirit of the Panshi tribe.
Dozens of other human tribes came to witness the ceremony. Among them, several tribes that were on good terms with the Panshi tribe announced that they would take Diwu as their sacred spirit and would no longer worship or sacrifice to any demons.
Other tribes cannot yet put aside their past grievances, after all, they fought each other before, and countless tribesmen died. Only with the passage of time and the forgetting of those hatreds can they establish an alliance with the Panshi tribe.
In every tribe that worshipped the Diwu as a sacred site, two palaces built of stone were erected.
In the center of one of the palaces stands a statue of a deity sculpted according to the original form of the Imperial House, while in the other palace stands a statue of a deity in the form of an innate Dao body, which looks extremely majestic.
If Mo Yuan were here, he would see that this statue is somewhat similar to the figure of the Fengdu Emperor who was enlightened by the Heavenly Dao, but upon closer inspection, there are great differences.
Dressed in a black robe, wearing a dark crown, holding a blue jade tablet, he sat on a jade platform, with purple clouds surging behind him.
In front of the statue is a memorial tablet inscribed with the six Heavenly Dao divine patterns of the Nine Netherworld Exorcising Heavenly Venerable, while on the wall behind the statue is the inscription "Humanity should strive for self-improvement".
In addition, after discussions among Diwu, Shanli, and Cangyan, they also planned to build two palaces to enshrine the Holy Mother and the Taiqing Saint respectively.
This phenomenon is extremely peculiar, yet it is in accordance with the natural order and the general trend.
Faintly, one could see wisps of auspicious energy emanating from the skies above these tribes.
Mo Yuan, who had already left the Rocky Tribe, was unaware of this. He only had a premonition that he would receive some humanitarian blessings.
He thought that because he had pioneered the way of spirit worship, the will of humanity had taken notice and would reward him with human blessings in the future.
Little did they know that the Sage Taiqing had enlightened the three people of Diwu, and they had quietly accomplished a great feat.
In later Taoism, "Nine Netherworld Exorcising Heavenly Venerable" is an honorific title for the Great Emperor of Fengdu.
Unbeknownst to him, Mo Yuan had caught the eye of the Sage of Taiqing.
Whether this matter is good or bad, Mo Yuan, as the person involved, does not know, and even if he did know, he would probably be at a loss.
Surely it's not like two sages are vying to take him as their disciple, is it?
