Chapter 608: No Chance Of Winning
Chapter 608: No Chance Of Winning
The following morning, Chu Miao, Chu Hao, Ye Xuan, and his brothers set out to go and check out the situation outside the sect.
The wind was raging so much that stepping outside the sect barrier was equivalent to stepping in another world.
The wind over the last few days since this new disaster started had already uprooted most of the trees near the base.
It had also carried the soil and other debris.
Now, if the place wasn’t cleaned often, it would look like a junkyard.
There was everything one could imagine flying through the air and falling in different places.
Chu Miao and her group had just walked outside when a whirlwind came towards them carrying a battered car in the midst.
"This wind can even carry a whole car?" Chu Hao asked in surprise.
They had thought that the wind could at least carry some light debris, they hadn’t expected it to be so strong.
But if it could uproot trees, then it could definitely carry heavier things.
"Should we go back or are we still going to investigate?" Li Kun asked, looking a bit timid.
"You are a cultivator for heaven’s sake. How can you be afraid of a little wind? Just use a small fraction of your spiritual power to protect yourself. No matter how violent the wind gets, it can’t harm you." Jing Xian really wanted to knock this guy in the head and see what was inside.
Their bodies, after tempering in the Soul Ring recently, had become so hard even if the car within the whirlwind smashed into them, they wouldn’t be affected.
So, why were these people acting as if they were delicate little girls?
Even Chu Miao didn’t behave like that once she was informed of the disaster and she was the youngest.
"Don’t mind them, let’s go." Murong Yi said and took the lead to head out.
As they walked, they realized that the city that had once prospered then got ruined by disasters and was in the middle of getting rebuilt was now in shambles again.
The weaker buildings had been turned into ruins. The more sturdy ones looked as if a bulldozer had passed through recently.
And the streets were filled with every kind of debris and garbage you can think of.
The cars that had been left in the middle of the roads or in parking lots when the apocalypse started, had either been ruined by the icicles that had been falling before or were now in even worse shape.
There was not a single zombie or mutated animal in sight.
Chu Miao stood in place after walking for a while and not seeing anything useful.
She closed her eyes and extended her divine sense to check what was happening in the city.
Now that she had advanced to the nascent soul stage, there was not a crack the whole city could hide from her.
As she searched, she was surprised to find that there were hundreds of thousands of zombies in an underground parking lot of a mall.
The parking lot was built well and hidden, just like a basement. So the fierce wind didn’t get there.
What surprised her even more was the fact that the zombies hiding in that place were actually more or less intelligent.
How did this happen?
How could there be so many zombies with intelligence gathered together?
Also, what exactly was helping these zombies improve their intelligence and powers?
Chu Miao wondered.
She realized that the over hundreds of thousands of zombies were not much of a challenge to them, but if they face lower-level superpower users or cultivators with low cultivation, then the humans would have no chance of winning.
"Let’s go to the mall and fight those zombies. We can gauge their strength and strategy while we are at it to determine their fighting style." Chu Miao said after she was done investigating.
While observing the situation, her divine sense had clashed with a few more. So, she knew that the others had already probed the situation as well.
"Alright, but be careful. I doubt these intelligent zombies fight recklessly like the others before." Ye Xuan said, as he grabbed his girlfriend’s hand.
"Are we walking there or teleporting?" Chu Hao asked tentatively.
Honestly, he didn’t exactly like the feeling of weightlessness when he was teleported.
However, it was also the fastest means of transportation now and from everything he had heard from his sister about the Immortal Realm, it was the most popular there as well.
So, if he was going to join his sister and brother-in-law in the Immortal Realm in the future, he had to get used to it.
"Let’s teleport. It will save time and energy. It’s not like we will collect supplies on the way. So there is no need to waste time." Chu Miao didn’t feel anything when she teleported, probably because she was a space cultivator.
She could manipulate space at will, so teleporting wouldn’t make her uncomfortable.
The others had no choice but to agree.
Chu Miao had them all hold onto each other and teleported to the place she had sensed the zombies.
Instead of teleporting into the parking lot where the zombies were hiding, she appeared outside the mall.
Just like every other obvious place that could hold supplies, the mall before them had already been stripped bare a long time ago.
The windows were broken and the door had even been removed.
Some broken and battered cars and trucks were still parked outside as if waiting for their owners to finish shopping and drive them home.
Looking at the mall that was basically invisible due to the amount of dust rising up due to the wind, a feeling of nostalgia crept up in Chu Miao.
It felt like a lifetime ago when she was moving from shop to shop, mall to mall, or market to market buying supplies because the prophecy said that the apocalypse would start in a month.
Back then, her family had blindly believed her ridiculous claims and used all their assets to buy supplies.
A sigh escaped her lips at the thought.
